The Quicksilver 8M0082537 is an OEM Platinum Plus Generation II throttle and shift cable measuring 14 feet in length. Designed for Mercury, Mariner, and MerCruiser engines using Mercury 4000 series engine controls (2003 and newer), this cable delivers the precise, smooth operation expected from genuine Quicksilver rigging components.

Built with a layered technology construction, the cable features a polypropylene outer jacket that resists UV exposure and abrasion, while a lubricated core liner surrounds a stainless steel core to maintain flexibility and resist corrosion in demanding marine environments. Performance is rated to below 0°F, ensuring reliable operation in all weather conditions.

When to Replace: Replace throttle and shift cables when you notice excessive free play, stiffness at the control, or visible signs of wear such as chafing, kinking, broken components, or loose fittings. Throttle and shift cables cannot be repaired — only replaced. Note: Do not lubricate the cable core, and avoid tight or sharp bends during installation.

To confirm the correct cable length needed, read the length and part number printed on your existing cable, or measure the unobstructed route from the control to the engine throttle/shift attachment point and add 18" for outboard installations.
