The Nauticus Smart Tab ST1290-80 trim tabs deliver automatic trim adjustment without hydraulics, electric switches, or operator intervention. Designed for boats 18-22 feet with 150-240 HP engines, these innovative trim tabs use nitrogen gas actuators to provide lift at the stern by holding the trim plate down during acceleration, then automatically adjusting based on water pressure and boat speed.
Key Features:
- Automatic trim adjustment with no operator input required while underway
- 12" x 9" trim plate dimensions optimized for mid-size boats
- Nitrogen gas actuator system provides speed-regulated lift
- Reduces minimum planing speed by up to 33%
- Improves acceleration, top speed, and fuel economy
- Provides continuous stabilization like shock absorbers, eliminating porpoising and chine walking
- Internal valve system dampens trim plate movement for smooth, undetectable adjustments
- No through-hull drilling required for installation
How They Work:
Smart Tabs start at a downward angle to maximize lift at slow speeds. As the boat accelerates, water pressure pushes up on the trim plates to provide stern lift, minimizing bow rise for quick planing. Once water pressure exceeds the actuator's load rating, the plates move to a horizontal position to eliminate drag. During cruising, the tabs continuously adjust to sea conditions, providing remarkable stability in turns, while crossing waves, and at all speeds.
Installation:
Simple installation takes less than an hour with basic tools: electric drill, small drill bit, Phillips screwdriver, and two wrenches. All mounting hardware, instructions, and templates are included. Professional installers can typically complete installation in 30 minutes or less.
