The McMurdo 82-962-001A BreaktHRU Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU) is designed for automatic deployment of Category 1 EPIRBs including E3/G4 and E5/G5 models. This compact HRU utilizes exclusive pyrotechnic technology to reliably release EPIRBs when submerged in water at depths less than 13 feet (4 meters), ensuring life-saving emergency beacons automatically float free in maritime emergencies.

How It Works:

The BreaktHRU uses McMurdo's proprietary pyrotechnic technology to activate automatically when submerged. Upon detecting water pressure at the specified depth, the small pyrotechnic charge triggers, severing the retention mechanism and allowing the EPIRB to float free and begin transmitting distress signals.

This hydrostatic release unit is an essential component of Category 1 EPIRB installations, providing fully automatic emergency beacon deployment without requiring manual intervention—critical in situations where crew may be unable to manually activate safety equipment.

Ordered an Fabtech steering box skidplate, best price I could find on the net was Autoplicity. Price was better than all the 4x4 sites I checked. Item is shipping directly from Mfg, so really can't comment on shipping speed. Otherwise, transaction was easy and I really like the fact they accept PayPal.
