Product Details

The Fireboy G-1BB-R is a single-channel gasoline fume detection system designed to protect boats from the serious hazards of gasoline vapor accumulation in bilge and engine compartments. This essential marine safety device monitors for dangerous gasoline fumes from fuel leaks, faulty tanks, or unburnt hydrocarbons from exhaust systems, and automatically activates your bilge blower when hazardous levels are detected.

Key Features:

  • Single channel monitoring with one plastic gasoline fume sensor
  • Compact 2-3/16 inch (56mm) round black display unit with LED indicators and silence/test button
  • Automatic blower activation via integrated 30 amp relay at 12 VDC (note: product description indicates 10A relay functionality)
  • 68 dBA alarm sounds and red LED illuminates at 20% of Lower Explosive Limit (LEL)
  • Yellow fault LED alerts to sensor or wiring issues
  • Wide operating voltage range: 9-30 VDC for versatile installations
  • Operates in extreme temperatures: -40°F to 185°F (-40°C to 85°C)
  • Low power consumption: 55mA nominal, 95mA maximum at 12 VDC
  • Reverse polarity protected circuitry

What's Included:

  • Display unit with mounting hardware
  • One plastic gasoline fume sensor
  • 20-foot sensor extension cable with quick-disconnect connectors
  • 30 amp relay for blower control
  • Installation manual

Important Safety Note:

Gasoline fume detectors serve as a supplemental warning system and are not meant to replace standard safety practices around explosive gases. Fuel leaks create new fumes as rapidly as blowers can clear them, making continuous monitoring essential. The blower fan typically operates only before engine start-up, offering no protection from ignition sources like electrical shorts, battery hydrogen explosions, or other causes when the engine is running.

The sensor should be mounted in the bilge just above the slosh line, approximately at the height of the starter solenoid, and away from manifolds or exhaust systems. The system requires a 1 amp fused connection to power and integrates with your existing bilge blower system for automatic fume purging.
