Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Tinley Park, Illinois, Surface Shields has grown into the North American leader in temporary surface protection, dust containment, and adhesive tape products. Custom Coating & Film Innovation

At the heart of the Surface Shields lineup is the company's expertise in custom coating and converting pressure-sensitive films for both carpet and hard surfaces. Products like Carpet Shield® use a specially formulated polyethylene blend that resists tears and punctures while clinging securely to most carpet types — eliminating the costly damage claims that can follow remodeling and moving jobs. On the hard-surface side, Alpha Shield™ and Alpha Shield™ FR offer compression- and impact-resistant protection with an added flame-retardant rating, meeting the stricter safety requirements of commercial and marine environments.

Floor Protection Boards & Rolls

One of Surface Shields' most recognized innovations is Builder Board®, a heavy-duty floor protection roll that replaces the need for bulky sheets of masonite or fiberboard. A single roll of Builder Board replaces roughly 10 standard fiberboard sheets — and unlike fiberboard, it is liquid-resistant, breathable, reusable, and recyclable. Multi Shield® and Neo Shield® round out the hard-floor lineup with slip-resistant surfaces suited to high-traffic construction zones, while Hydro Shield provides a poly-coated barrier against moisture intrusion.
