Megaware KeelGuard 27071 SkegGuard Stainless Steel Outboard Skeg Protector

The Megaware KeelGuard SkegGuard 27071 is a marine-grade stainless steel skeg protector designed to defend your outboard motor's lower unit from costly damage. Whether you're protecting a healthy skeg or restoring a broken one, the SkegGuard delivers a durable, performance-neutral solution that can save hundreds of dollars in repair bills.

Constructed from 18-gauge marine-grade 316 stainless steel with a mirror-polished finish, the SkegGuard features a reinforced 3mm thickened lower wear tab — the area of the skeg most exposed to ramp dragging, submerged rocks, and underwater debris. The guard conforms closely to your lower unit's profile, ensuring no discernible drag or reduction in performance.

Key Features:

• Heavy-duty 18-gauge marine-grade 316 stainless steel construction with mirror-polished finish
• Reinforced 3mm lower wear tab protects against ramp dragging and river running hazards
• Built-in drain hole prevents water accumulation, corrosion, and freeze damage
• Installs in under 10 minutes using common tools and self-locking hardware
• Can be installed with as little as 2–3 inches of original skeg remaining — ideal for skeg repair and replacement
• Fits Mercury, Mariner, Force, Honda, Nissan/Tohatsu, and Yamaha outboard motors (see fitment details)
• Made in USA
• Backed by a 3-year manufacturer's warranty

The SkegGuard slides onto the existing skeg and is secured with pre-drilled hardware — no special tools required. It is also a practical alternative to expensive welding or lower unit replacement when a skeg is already damaged. OEM cross-reference and alternate part references: Megaware 27071, KEE 27071.
