Shock Wave Seat Suspension Systems
Shock Wave Seat Suspension Systems: Engineered to Absorb the Impact
When you spend hours on the water, every wave your hull slaps through transfers energy straight into your body. Without proper seat suspension, that cumulative shock leads to back pain, fatigue, and long-term injury. Shock Wave was built specifically to solve that problem, and their seat suspension systems represent over two decades of focused engineering in shock mitigation technology.
A Legacy of Military-Grade Performance
Since 2001, Shockwave Seats has designed and manufactured innovative marine suspension seating to protect boaters from the shock of wave impact. Shockwave is a Canadian company located in the rough Pacific Northwest and manufactures suspension seating for recreational, commercial, and military-grade use — with products popular in both the NASCAR circuit and with the U.S. Coast Guard, with over 4,500 seats installed on Coastie vessels patrolling U.S. and international waters. That kind of real-world validation across high-demand environments is what sets Shock Wave apart in the seat suspension category.
The S5 Suspension Base Product Line
Shock Wave designs and manufactures all of their marine suspension products in Canada using military-grade components. Their flagship S5 line offers three distinct suspension bases to match a range of conditions, vessel types, and operator needs:
- S5-LW (Lightweight): The entry-level recreational suspension option, designed to mitigate the shock of wave impact in light seas on freshwater lakes or cabin boats on the ocean, with a maximum recommended passenger weight of 250 pounds. It features an X-Fusion O2 air spring shock with adjustable rebound, manufactured from anodized A360 cast aluminum with 304-grade SS hardware, powder-coated, with 3-link forward action.
- S5-AL (Aluminum): Offers a smoother, safer, and more comfortable ride, protecting occupants in moderate to heavy sea conditions through a 4-point forward action suspension design, supporting up to 300 pounds. It features a FOX Rhythm air spring shock with adjustable rebound, anodized cast aluminum frame, 316-grade SS hardware, and 4-link forward action, backed by a 2-year limited warranty.
- S5-SS (Stainless Steel): The latest addition to the S5 product line, featuring welded electro-polished 316 stainless steel construction built to last in saltwater environments with high salinity, humidity, and moderate to heavy sea conditions. It supports up to 300 pounds and includes a FOX Rhythm air spring shock with adjustable rebound and compression, and 4-link forward action — backed by a 5-year limited warranty.
Universal Fit and Customization
Shockwave's S5 suspension bases are most often found on fishing boats, coastal cruisers, ski/wake boats, guide boats, fisheries boats, whale watching boats, crew boats, and yacht tenders — and due to their universal design, can be fitted to almost any boat and any seat. With the appropriate Shockwave base adapter, they will work with a variety of existing OEM and aftermarket boat seats, and Shock Wave also offers proprietary seating, height base risers, cup holders, footrests, swivels, and sliding mechanisms to fully customize their suspension systems.
For anyone serious about time on the water — whether recreational angler, professional mariner, or military operator — Shock Wave's full line of seat suspension systems represents the standard in impact mitigation and occupant protection.
