About Blue Sea Systems

Blue Sea Systems has been a defining force in marine and specialty vehicle electrical systems since its founding in 1992 in Bellingham, Washington. Built on a straightforward but demanding mission — to improve the safety, simplicity, and reliability of onboard electrical systems — the brand has grown into one of the most trusted names among boaters, professional marine installers, RV enthusiasts, and specialized vehicle builders worldwide.

Blue Sea Systems develops and manufactures a comprehensive range of AC and DC electrical products engineered to withstand the harshest conditions on the water and the road. Moisture, vibration, extreme temperatures, and corrosive salt air are everyday realities in marine environments, and every Blue Sea product is designed with those challenges in mind. Their components are built to meet or exceed ABYC, NMMA, and U.S. Coast Guard electrical standards, giving owners and installers confidence that the system will perform when it matters most.

What Blue Sea Systems Makes

The Blue Sea catalog spans the full scope of onboard power management. At its core are three foundational product families that protect and control electrical systems on virtually any vessel or specialized vehicle:

Circuit Breakers — A broad selection of magnetic-hydraulic and thermal designs for both main and branch circuit protection in AC and DC systems. Blue Sea's trip-free designs are engineered to resist nuisance tripping from engine room heat, making them a staple in high-end marine electrical panels.

Fuse Blocks — From the ever-popular ST Blade Fuse Block, which consolidates multiple branch circuits into a single organized hub, to high-interrupt Class T fuse blocks rated for inverters and large battery banks, Blue Sea offers a fuse block solution for virtually every application.

Battery Switching — Blue Sea's battery switches and manual battery switches are considered the industry standard for isolating and controlling battery banks on boats of all sizes. Their m-Series and ML-Series switches cover everything from day boats to offshore yachts, while the Dual Circuit Plus™ design lets operators manage both start and house banks with a single control.

Beyond these core categories, Blue Sea also produces automatic charging relays (ACRs), busbars, power distribution panels including their modular Custom 360 Panel system, metering and monitoring devices, and power conversion products. The breadth of the catalog means an entire vessel's electrical system — from battery to breaker to branch circuit — can be built around a single, cohesive Blue Sea platform.

Engineering Philosophy and Standards Compliance

What sets Blue Sea Systems apart is a relentless focus on engineering precision. Products are designed in the USA and manufactured to align with ABYC E-11 (AC & DC Electrical Systems on Boats) and relevant U.S. Coast Guard regulations. The brand also offers a broad single-pole circuit breaker lineup that directly satisfies CFR 46 Coast Guard requirements, removing ambiguity from compliance decisions. Blue Sea further supports installers with online tools like the Circuit Wizard and Panel Wizard, plus an extensive library of wiring diagrams and technical articles — resources that reflect a company invested in the success of every installation, not just the sale of a component.

Whether you are wiring a simple center console, refitting a bluewater cruiser, or building out an overland vehicle, Blue Sea Systems provides the components and the technical foundation to do it right.

Product Details

The Blue Sea Systems 1850 M2 Vessel Systems Monitor provides comprehensive monitoring of four critical marine electrical systems in one compact organic LED digital display. This advanced monitoring solution combines DC power, AC shore power, bilge pump, and tank level monitoring into a single, easy-to-read interface.

DC System Monitoring: Monitor up to two battery banks simultaneously. The primary input tracks DC voltage, state-of-charge, and current flow for one battery bank, while the secondary input monitors voltage for an additional bank. Programmable alarms alert you to high and low voltage conditions, excessive current draw, and low battery states.

AC System Monitoring: Tracks shore power or generator performance by monitoring AC voltage, current draw, and frequency on a single circuit. Configurable alarms warn of dangerous high or low voltage conditions, excessive current, and frequency irregularities that could damage sensitive electronics.

Bilge and Tank Monitoring: Two versatile inputs can be configured as either bilge pump monitors or tank level sensors. In bilge mode, track pump activation, cycle counts over 24 hours, average daily cycles, and total lifetime cycles. Set high alarms for excessive run time or cycle frequency to detect potential flooding. In tank mode, display levels in gallons, liters, or percentage of capacity. The system supports custom tank shapes through auto-calibration or manual programming, with adjustable high and low level alarms.

Technical Specifications:

 • Display: Organic LED (OLED) digital screen
 • Monitoring Functions: DC voltage/current, AC voltage/current/frequency, bilge pump activity, tank levels
 • DC Voltage Range: 7-70V DC (nominal 12V, 24V, 48V)
 • AC Voltage Range: 40-300V AC (nominal 120V, 230V)
 • DC Current Range: -500A to +500A
 • AC Current Range: 0-150A
 • Frequency Range: 40-90Hz
 • Current Draw: 18.8mA @ 12V (backlight off), 35mA @ 12V (backlight on)

The M2 Vessel Systems Monitor consolidates multiple gauges and monitors into one space-saving unit, reducing installation complexity while providing at-a-glance status of your vessel's most critical systems.

This was the easy part, with the exception that once I was in the CART area it wouldn't let me go back to add a quart to my order of a gallon, try as I may...
