I had looked up the part number for a front impact sensor for my GMC truck and placed an order using that number. It arrived promptly and in sealed box with the part number on the outside. When I compared it to the original part they looked the same but different numbers on both. When entering those numbers into a google search the original part crossed back to the GM part number. The replacement part seemed to be for a different year, so I called costumer service. Basically the numbers on the part must have been some manufacturing code. Part installed and code cleared. Happy customer.
