Xantrex Technologies Solar Powered Chargers: Engineering the Off-Grid Advantage

Xantrex Technologies has built a decades-long reputation as a leader in mobile power solutions, and their lineup of solar powered chargers is a standout example of that expertise in action. Xantrex approaches solar charging not as a standalone accessory, but as a fully integrated layer of a broader mobile power system—one designed specifically for the demanding environments of RVs, boats, heavy-duty trucks, and off-grid rigs.

Portable Solar Kits Built for the Road and Water

At the entry point of the Xantrex solar charger lineup are their portable solar kits, available in configurations like the 100W and 160W offerings. These kits feature solar panels with 5 busbars and PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Contact) mono-crystalline cells, a special cell technology that increases module efficiency significantly over standard solar cells. Each solar kit includes a 10A charge controller and system hardware designed as a plug-and-play charging solution. Convenience details matter here: users have the ability to connect to their batteries using ring terminals, battery clamps, or an SAE connector for pre-wired RV solar ports, and tilting legs allow the user to angle the solar panel towards the sun and maximize solar energy harvesting.

MPPT Charge Controllers: Maximum Power from Every Ray

For users who want to extract every possible watt from their solar array, Xantrex offers both 30A and 60A MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) charge controllers. The Xantrex Solar MPPT Charge Controller features advanced Maximum Power Point Tracking technology, providing an instant upgrade to your solar system with up to 30% more power compared to PWM charge controllers. Designed to charge lithium-ion batteries including LiFePO4, the 30A MPPT charge controller features an industry-leading 98% charging efficiency and dual bank output to charge and maintain house and starter batteries. Offering greater flexibility, simplicity, and efficiency in PV array designs, higher voltage PV arrays can be used up to 72V (nominal).

The 60A MPPT controller steps things up further. It includes RV-C, Modbus, and Bluetooth connectivity, LED indicators for PV charging and charger stage status, compatibility with 12/24/36/48V system voltages, and MPPT tracking efficiency of up to 99.5%—supporting lead-acid, AGM, Gel, Flooded, Lithium, and custom battery chemistries.

PWM Charge Controllers: Clean Integration for RV and Marine Builds

When a permanent, flush-mounted installation is preferred, Xantrex's PWM Charge Controller features a flush-mount industrial design for a clean finish, built specifically for an aesthetically integrated look in an RV, boat, or truck. Intuitive and easy to program, it gets your solar system harvesting energy quickly, and is equipped with best-in-class PV array and battery protections along with a built-in LCD display providing real-time system data.

Why Xantrex for Solar Charging?

With over 40 years of design leadership and application in the RV and marine space, the Xantrex family of power solutions provides a range of high-quality products designed to meet the unique needs of mobile power users. Their solar products include premium peel-and-stick flexible solar panels and rigid glass panels, designed to provide long-lasting durability and performance in the most extreme environmental conditions. When it comes to shade tolerance, Xantrex solar technology is also noteworthy: shade is the enemy of solar panels, but Xantrex panels are tested to produce 70% of normal power in severely shaded conditions compared to almost no power from leading competitor technologies.

Whether you're outfitting a weekend camper or a full-time live-aboard vessel, Xantrex solar powered chargers deliver the reliability and intelligence that serious off-grid users demand. Browse the full Solar Powered Chargers category or explore everything Xantrex Technologies has to offer.
