Wichard 1214W Self-Locking Long D Shackle 8mm 5/16" 316L Stainless Steel

The Wichard 1214W Self-Locking Long D Shackle is a premium marine-grade fastening component engineered for reliability in demanding sailing and marine rigging applications. Forged from grade 316L stainless steel and passivated for superior corrosion resistance, this long D shackle delivers outstanding strength and longevity in saltwater environments.

The defining feature of the 1214W is its self-locking pin mechanism, which locks securely into one of the body's indentations with just a half-turn. This design eliminates the risk of the pin accidentally backing out due to vibration or load cycling — a critical safety advantage in marine rigging where conventional screw-pin shackles can work loose over time.

Key Features:

• Grade 316L stainless steel — drop forged and passivated for maximum strength and corrosion resistance
• Self-locking detent pin — locks into body indentations, preventing accidental loosening from vibration
• One-hand operation — opens and closes with a simple half-turn of the pin
• Captive pin design — pin cannot be dropped when the shackle is open
• Long D body profile — ideal for standard rigging applications requiring additional length, including blocks, halyards, and attachment points
• Safe Working Load (SWL): 2,200 lbs — with a safety factor of 5× the breaking load
• CE marked — meets European conformity standards
• 5-year limited warranty
• Pin size: 5/16" (8mm)
• Designed and manufactured in France

The long body format makes the Wichard 1214W well-suited for applications where a standard-length shackle is too compact, such as connecting blocks, securing heads, and other sailboat hardware attachments. It is an ideal upgrade from traditional threaded-pin shackles anywhere vibration or repetitive loading is a concern.
