Wichard 1404W Captive Pin D Shackle 8mm (5/16") 316L Stainless Steel

The Wichard 1404W is a captive pin D shackle forged from grade 316L stainless steel, offering exceptional corrosion resistance and long-term durability in demanding marine and offshore environments. With a pin diameter of 8mm (5/16"), this shackle is engineered for reliable performance in sailing rigging, block attachments, and other hardware connections where a lost pin could compromise safety.

What sets the Wichard captive pin design apart is that the pin remains physically connected to the shackle body at all times — even when fully opened. The pin locks positively into machined indentations on the body, preventing accidental loosening caused by vibration, shock loads, or incidental contact. This self-locking mechanism also allows for true single-handed operation, making it ideal for use on deck or aloft where convenience and safety are equally important.

Key Features:

• Forged in grade 316L stainless steel for superior marine-grade corrosion resistance
• Captive pin design — pin remains attached to the shackle body even when opened
• Pin locks into body indentations, eliminating the risk of loss due to vibration
• Single-handed operation for increased safety and convenience
• 8mm (5/16") pin diameter for robust load-bearing capacity
• CE marked; outstanding working and breaking load ratings
• Suitable for attachment applications including blocks, heads, and standing/running rigging hardware

Wichard has been manufacturing premium stainless steel marine hardware for over 100 years. The 1404W captive pin D shackle reflects that legacy of quality, combining secure retention with ease of use for sailors and marine professionals alike.
