The OMC 0585184 Temperature Switch Assembly is a genuine OEM starboard-side cylinder head temperature switch designed for Johnson and Evinrude two-stroke outboard engines. This factory-original BRP/OMC part monitors engine operating temperature and plays a critical role in protecting the powerhead from thermal damage.
Mounted on the starboard cylinder head, this switch interfaces with the engine's ignition management system to trigger the overheat alarm, activate the Quickstart function, and engage the SLOW (power reduction) mode when elevated temperatures are detected — helping prevent costly engine damage before it occurs.

This temperature switch is the correct starboard replacement for a wide range of Johnson and Evinrude two-stroke outboards from approximately 9.9 HP through 225 HP, including Ficht fuel-injected models. Always verify fitment against your engine's model and serial number before ordering.
