Scandvik Battery Chargers
Scandvik Dolphin Battery Chargers for Marine Applications
Scandvik is a major supplier to the marine industry, importing and supplying the United States marine market with well known names, such as: ABA Stainless Steel Hose Clamps, Dolphin Battery Chargers and Teak Wonder finishing products. When it comes to reliable power management aboard vessels, the Scandvik Dolphin line represents a comprehensive approach to battery charging technology specifically engineered for the demanding marine environment.
Dolphin Pro Series: Advanced Marine Power Management
Scandvik is proud to introduce the Dolphin PRO Evo3. This new range of Marine Battery Chargers is the result of the latest technological advancements in the world of power electronics. The Dolphin Pro Series represents Scandvik's flagship charging technology, offering solutions that range from compact single-bank models to powerful multi-output systems capable of handling battery banks up to 1000 amps. The Dolphin Pro Series battery chargers feature an LED display for programming and monitoring functions, a temperature sensor for battery compensation, and a modern lightweight compact design with white aluminum powder coated casing.
MDP Pro 99501-99507 Automatic Battery Chargers are made of aluminum, powder-coated for better corrosion resistance. These fully-automatic, multi- stage chargers can charge up to three battery banks simultaneously. This multi-bank capability is essential for complex marine electrical systems where house batteries, engine starting batteries, and auxiliary systems need independent yet coordinated charging. They have seven charging programs, two winterization programs programs and one power supply program.
Scalability and Communication Technology
One distinctive feature that sets Scandvik's battery chargers apart is their advanced networking capability. Chargers can be ganged together to increase the amp output using CAN bus communication technology, maximum four 24V-100A (double boards) or 10 of the smaller size chargers (single boards). This scalability allows boat owners to expand their charging capacity as their electrical demands grow, whether upgrading to lithium house banks or adding power-hungry electronics.
The Pro range is equipped with communication via CAN bus, which means it can be used professionally in all land and industrial energy management sectors. This professional-grade communication protocol enables integration with sophisticated energy management systems, making Scandvik chargers suitable for everything from recreational cruisers to commercial vessels.
Modern Battery Chemistry Compatibility
As marine electrical systems evolve beyond traditional flooded lead-acid batteries, charging technology must keep pace. Both MDP Pro and MDP First/Premium have charge programs for lithium-ion-iron-phospate (LiFeSo4) batteries. This lithium compatibility ensures that Scandvik chargers remain relevant as more boaters transition to lightweight, high-capacity lithium battery banks that offer superior performance and longevity.
User Interface and Control Options
Scandvik offers flexibility in how users interact with their charging systems. The Optional Touchview Control Panel replaces the visual display on units marked with ** and provides more control and settings directly at the charger. A remote Touchview Control Panel is available for control of the charger at the helm or other location. This remote monitoring capability allows operators to check charging status and adjust parameters without accessing the charger's installation location, which is often tucked away in an engine room or lazarette.
Protection and Reliability
They have overload, short-circuit, over-temperature and input (fuse) protection. These comprehensive safety features protect both the charger and connected battery banks from damage due to electrical faults or environmental conditions. The Dolphin Series of battery chargers has always been recognized for its outstanding quality, which the manufacturer is proud to support with a 2-year warranty. Combined with universal AC input capability that automatically switches between 115/230 VAC at 50/60 Hz, Dolphin chargers offer true international compatibility for cruising vessels that visit multiple regions.
