Stingray
Stingray STARFIRE-1 No-Drill Hydrofoil Stabilizer for Outboard Motors 40 HP & Up
About StingRay Hydrofoils
When it comes to improving outboard and sterndrive boat performance, few brands have earned the global reputation that StingRay Hydrofoils has built over the years. Proudly manufactured in the USA and distributed to boaters in more than 30 countries, StingRay is widely recognized as a world leader in hydrofoil boat stabilizer technology. Whether you're wrestling with a sluggish hole shot, burning through fuel at inefficient RPMs, or fighting the dreaded bounce of porpoising on chop, StingRay's engineered solutions are designed to address all of these challenges in one compact, bolt-on package.
How StingRay Hydrofoils Work
A StingRay hydrofoil mounts directly to the cavitation plate of your outboard or sterndrive engine, increasing the effective surface area and generating hydrodynamic lift as the boat moves through the water. This lift raises the stern, levels the hull, and allows the boat to get up on plane faster — and at lower RPM. The practical results are significant: reduced fuel consumption, improved top-end speed, and the virtual elimination of common performance headaches like cavitation, ventilation, chine-walking, and porpoising. For boats running smaller engines without trim tabs, a hydrofoil stabilizer is one of the most cost-effective performance upgrades available.
A Diverse Lineup for Every Hull and Engine
StingRay's product range spans a wide variety of hull types and engine sizes, from small jon boats and inflatables all the way up to high-performance runabouts and tournament bass boats. Their hydrofoils and trolling plates lineup includes several distinct series, each engineered for a specific use case:
- Classic Series — The original StingRay design, molded for reliable, proven lift across a broad range of outboard engines.
- Classic Junior — Scaled for smaller motors from as little as 1.5 HP up to 40 HP, and adjustable in width to fit compact cavitation plates on jon boats and inflatables.
- Starfire Series — StingRay's flagship no-drill hydrofoil, featuring patented set-screw installation that requires zero holes drilled into the cavitation plate. Engineered for engines in the 40–300 HP range and optimized for maximizing top-end speed.
- AIRO Hydrofoil — A versatile two-piece design that accommodates engines as small as 4 HP while still delivering meaningful lift benefits on larger powerplants.
- XR Series — Purpose-built for water sports like skiing, wakeboarding, and tubing, delivering the quick plane and smooth ride that tow-sport enthusiasts demand.
- HyperFoil-500 — A high-performance option for boaters seeking maximum lift and stability at speed.
Patented Installation Technology
One of StingRay's most notable innovations is their family of patented installation methods. Traditional hydrofoil installation requires drilling four holes into the engine's cavitation plate. StingRay developed a two-hole installation method, and then went further with their patented No-Drill system — used on the Starfire — which uses set screws to secure the hydrofoil without penetrating the plate at all. This makes installation faster, cleaner, and completely reversible, a significant advantage for boaters who lease engines or simply prefer not to modify OEM components.
Trusted by Anglers, Families, and Performance Boaters Alike
StingRay hydrofoils are a popular choice across virtually every segment of recreational boating. Tournament bass anglers rely on them for quicker launches from the starting line. Fishing families appreciate the smoother, more fuel-efficient cruise to their favorite spots. Water sports enthusiasts value the immediate response and plane-speed that makes a full day of towing more enjoyable. Whatever your time on the water looks like, StingRay's hydrofoil stabilizer lineup offers a proven, affordable solution to get more out of every trip.
