Since 1977, ASA Electronics has been engineering mobile technology for the environments where off-the-shelf consumer electronics simply weren't built to survive. Founded in Elkhart, Indiana by Tom Irions and Kelly Rose — both former Audiovox distributors — the company grew out of a clear gap in the market: adventurers, farmers, fleet operators, and tradespeople needed electronics that could endure punishing real-world conditions. ASA answered that call by developing all of its products from the ground up, tailoring materials and engineering to the specific demands of each application.

The company developed its first wired backup camera system in 1987 — well over a decade before observation technology became a standard automotive feature — and continued innovating from there, building the first-ever 13-inch DC-powered television for mobile use in 1991.
