This 8kW alternator features a native 48V rotor design that continuously generates over 3kW (55 Amps) at 2,500 RPM and nearly 6kW (111 Amps) at 4,000 alternator RPM. In real-world applications, a marine diesel engine charging at 1,200 RPM with a 3.13:1 pulley ratio produces just over 5kW (97 Amps), while a Mercedes Sprinter at 750 RPM with a 3.21:1 ratio generates over 3kW (55 Amps).
Unlike competitor alternators that repurpose 12V rotors for 48V applications, the ARCO Zeus utilizes a purpose-built 48V rotor and field current. This design eliminates the need for external regulators to drastically reduce field current by up to 78%, resulting in cooler operation, improved efficiency, and extended component lifespan. The unit features heat-shedding coatings, externally-mounted rectifier, dual cooling fans, and E-Coat/Cerakote finish to maintain optimal operating temperatures for sustained high-amperage output.
