Bomar Deck Plates & Covers
Bomar Deck Plates & Covers: Engineered for the Open Water
When it comes to protecting below-deck systems and maintaining watertight integrity on the water, few names carry the weight of Bomar. A division of Pompanette, LLC, Bomar has been engineering marine closures since the late 1940s, earning a reputation as the go-to source for boat builders, commercial fleet operators, and OEMs worldwide. Within the broader world of deck plates & covers, Bomar stands apart through a combination of materials science, proven product series, and American manufacturing.
Two Distinct Product Lines for Every Application
Bomar approaches deck plates with two well-defined product families, each engineered for a specific tier of use:
- Gray Series (Injection Molded): Bomar's Gray Series deck plates are constructed from proprietary engineering-grade polypropylene resins — a material chosen specifically for its lightweight nature, structural rigidity, and long-term durability in harsh marine environments. These plates feature an O-ring seal and UV-stabilized resin to resist sun degradation over time, with a locking center for secure access. Available in multiple sizes, they are a trusted solution for engine room access, below-deck utility compartments, and similar mission-critical areas.
- Commercial Grade Series (Cast Aluminum): For high-load applications where durability is truly non-negotiable, Bomar's Commercial Grade Series is cast from Almag-35 aluminum — a 535 magnesium-hardened alloy that is heated to 1,100°F and poured into proprietary molds at Bomar's own foundry. The result is an exceptionally strong, corrosion-resistant deck plate assembled in-house with 316L marine-grade stainless steel T-handles and fasteners, a double gasket for maximum sealing, and a low-profile, non-skid surface.
Why Bomar Deck Plates Are Trusted Fleet-Wide
What sets Bomar apart in the deck plate category isn't just materials — it's the complete engineering philosophy behind each product. Bomar deck plates are designed to resist UV exposure, impact, and saltwater corrosion simultaneously, delivering reliable, watertight access in the most demanding onboard environments. The Gray Series models are offered in sizes from 6" to 10", with optional bolt-down configurations to suit a variety of installation needs. The Commercial Grade line has earned certification from Lloyd's Register and is used across commercial fleets worldwide.
All Bomar deck plates and covers are proudly manufactured at the company's facility in Charlestown, New Hampshire, where in-house fabrication and quality control ensure that every component meets the same exacting standards trusted by patrol vessels, sport fishers, and luxury cruisers alike. For boaters who refuse to compromise on the integrity of their deck hardware, Bomar delivers a deck plate solution backed by decades of real-world, fleet-proven performance.
