Kasco Marine De-Icers
Kasco Marine De-Icers: Industry-Leading Ice Protection for Docks, Boats & Waterfronts
When freezing temperatures threaten your waterfront investment, few solutions match the performance and durability of Kasco Marine de-icers. De-icers from Kasco have built a decades-long reputation as the go-to choice for marina operators, private dock owners, and waterfront property managers who need reliable, around-the-clock ice prevention.
How Kasco De-Icers Work
The core principle behind every Kasco de-icer is elegantly simple but highly effective. By pushing warmer water upward, Kasco's de-icers create an opening at the water's surface, keeping boats and docks safe from damaging ice buildup. This matters because ice doesn't just inconvenience boaters — it can cause lifting damage due to "ice jacking" and the shearing and crushing damage caused by ice expansion. Beyond protecting infrastructure, de-icers also help keep fish and aquatic species healthy throughout the winter by allowing for open areas where oxygen can enter the water.
The Kasco Advantage: Superior Thrust & Proven Design
Kasco's de-icers create more thrust than any other product on the market. That high-thrust output translates directly into a larger protected zone — in general, the 1/2 HP model keeps a 50-foot diameter area from freezing, while the 3/4 HP model keeps a 75-foot diameter area ice-free. Kasco de-icers have been providing best-in-class ice prevention for over 50 years, and the engineering shows in every detail. Motor assemblies are sealed in an oil bath for long life and feature ball bearings for smooth operation. All exposed metal is non-corroding stainless steel, and each assembly includes a power cord designed for low temperatures, a zinc anode for corrosion protection, and a grounded three-prong plug.
Model Options & Voltage Configurations
De-icers are available in 1/2, 3/4, and 1 HP sizes and in 120V (60 Hz) and 240V (60 Hz) power configurations to fit a variety of installations and applications. Every unit ships ready for suspended operation — Kasco de-icers come standard with two 20-foot mooring ropes for easy suspended operation. An angled position produces an elongated pattern of agitated water, while a vertical position produces a circular pattern, giving you flexibility to shape coverage to your specific slip or dock layout.
Flexible Mounting Systems & Smart Control Options
Kasco offers mounting solutions for virtually every installation environment. The Universal Dock Mount utilizes durable plastic mounting hardware accompanied by a corrosion-resistant stainless steel pipe, and its unique design lets you easily change the de-icer's angle, depth, and position. For more demanding environments, the Industrial Dock Mount Kit is made with stainless steel and galvanized parts for harsh environments. There is also a Horizontal Float option — this allows you to mount the de-icer away from docks and create a directional current to keep ice open, while the float moves up and down with the tide as the water level changes.
Precision control is available through Kasco's optional C-10 and C-20 panels. The C-10 Thermostat Controller uses an air temperature thermostat to turn the de-icer on when the temperature drops below a set point, while the C-20 Time and Temperature Controller allows you to determine at what temperature and time of day the de-icer turns on. For 240V installations, the C-220 Control Panel is used exclusively with 240-volt units, featuring GFCI protection, a 24-hour timer, and field terminal connections inside a durable thermoplastic enclosure.
Certified Safety & Backed by Warranty
All Kasco de-icers are ETL approved to UL and CSA standards, making them one of the only de-icer lines on the market with this level of third-party safety certification. Each unit is backed by a 2-year manufacturer's warranty. Whether you manage a single slip or a full-service marina, Kasco's D-Series de-icers deliver the industrial-grade reliability your waterfront deserves.
