Product Details

The Quicksilver 8M0082492 Platinum Plus Throttle and Shift Cable is a 19-foot Generation I replacement control cable engineered for Mercury Marine outboard and sterndrive applications. Designed to deliver smooth, precise throttle and shift actuation, this cable is built to withstand the harsh demands of the marine environment — including UV exposure, abrasion, saltwater, and temperatures well below 0°F.

Determining the correct replacement cable is straightforward: check the length and part number printed on your existing cable, or measure the unobstructed routing path from the control head to the engine's throttle/shift attachment point. For outboard installations, add 18 inches to your measured length to account for proper routing.

Key Features:

  • Platinum Plus construction — layered technology structure for smooth, consistent operation and long service life
  • 19-foot length with Generation I (Gen I) end connections
  • Polypropylene outer jacket — UV-resistant and abrasion-resistant for lasting durability in all weather conditions
  • Lubricated core liner surrounds a stainless steel inner core, reducing friction and resisting corrosion in marine environments
  • Rated for use in temperatures below 0°F — maintains flexibility in cold-weather and cold-climate operation
  • Easy replacement using common hand tools — no special equipment required

Installation & Maintenance Notes:

  • Do not lubricate the inner core
  • Avoid tight or sharp bends during routing and installation
  • Replace cable when excessive free play or stiffness is felt at the control, or when chafing, bending, or broken/loose components are visible
  • Throttle and shift cables cannot be repaired — replacement is the only correct service action

The Quicksilver 8M0082492 is an OEM-quality replacement cable that meets Mercury Marine's standards for performance and reliability, ensuring your throttle and shift controls respond with the precision and confidence you depend on out on the water.

Looked everywhere for a good price on Warn locking hubs, they were the best price around. Shipped right away.

Great and user friendly.

Nice Store. Best price on the product I was looking for. Received my item within a week. But online order status wasn't updated until the day I received the item. I was ready to call the store to find out if something is wrong with my order. This part could be improved. Otherwise I'm happy and definitely be back in the future.

I am extremely satisfied with Autoplicity in terms of service, price, and shipping. I was shopping for a set of N-FAB step bars for my truck and was ready to purchase from Amazon when I decided to look around to see if there were better prices. I stumbled upon Autoplicity and was surprised to see their price on the bars. I checked with their online chat customer service to confirm that they would fit my truck and that the price was for a pair of the bars and not just one. (That's how low the price was!). I then placed my order and the bars arrived at my doorstep 3 days later! Autoplicity gets an A+ in my book and I'll definitely be coming back.

Great price!

Cheapest price on Eibach springs on the internet! Close to 50-75 dollars cheaper than the rest who have similar user ratings. Fast shipping! Good email communication from order start, shipping to delivery. Would recommend to anyone.

Thanx

Quick and easy with clear part numbers and photos.

Got a great price on an hks exhaust and the shipping was quick too

Autoplicity had the best prices on the parts I needed. Their description of the products I was interested in was excellent! Shipping was very fast. Thanks Autoplicity I will be back!

Autoplicity has really good service. They give you such good prices and yet they're still willing to give you discounts on your purchases. They emailed me a day later after purchase with shipping number. I would recommend them to anyone!
