Product Details

The Quicksilver 8M0082490 is an OEM Platinum Plus throttle and shift cable measuring 17 feet in length, designed for use with Generation I (Gen I) Mercury Marine control connections. Built to deliver smooth, precise throttle and shift control in demanding marine environments, this is a direct replacement for worn or damaged cables on boats equipped with Gen I Mercury controls.

Engineered for durability, this cable features a larger diameter construction with a 100% wire-wrapped outer conduit for added strength and rigidity. A sealed lubrication system with nickel-plated fittings protects against corrosion in harsh saltwater and freshwater conditions. The high-efficiency inner core design promotes smoother shifting and throttle response, while the polypropylene outer jacket provides UV and abrasion resistance to withstand prolonged sun and wear exposure.

Key Features:

  • OEM Quicksilver Platinum Plus quality — direct fit for Gen I Mercury Marine controls
  • 17-foot cable length
  • 100% wire-wrapped outer conduit for superior strength and durability
  • High-efficiency inner core design for smoother shifting and throttle response
  • Sealed lubrication system with nickel-plated fittings for corrosion resistance
  • Polypropylene outer jacket — UV and abrasion resistant
  • Rated for performance in all weather conditions, including temperatures below 0°F
  • Do not lubricate core; avoid tight or sharp bends during installation

Sizing Guidance: To determine the correct cable length for a new installation, measure the path from the control to the engine throttle/shift attachment point along the unobstructed cable route. Add 18 inches for outboard installations. For a direct replacement, measure the old cable tip-to-tip and subtract 7 inches. You can also read the length and part number printed on your existing cable.

When to Replace: Replace the throttle and shift cable when you notice excessive free play or stiffness at the control, or when you observe chafed, broken, bent, or loose parts. Throttle and shift cables cannot be repaired — only replaced.

Quick n easy

great prices

Very good prices and quick, easy ordering experience.

great store

incredibly fast processing, inventory, and price.shipped next day. awesome site

Order shipped without delay and Autoplicity had the best price. One of the problems was I did not get order confirmation email or could not get the order details in my account. Unfortunately, I registered after placing the order because the process was not that straight forward. They could not get my order details into the account. The tracking email was received little late. I wish they improve the system to add orders to the account and display the order progress.

Great prices. Fast Shipping. I would definitely do business again.

I used amazon to pay and it took less than a minute to complete the purchase.

The availability to pay with Amazon.

Had to upgrade to a Snell 2010 helmet this year, bought the identical helmet for $200 less than I paid 8 years ago! Fast shipping, I will be checking Autoplicity first in the future!
