Lowrance Transducer Technologies

Lowrance's transducer families are organized around the kind of view they deliver. Hybrid Dual Imaging (HDI) transducers combine traditional Broadband sonar with DownScan Imaging to provide detailed views of structure, rock, weed, and wrecks. They remain a popular choice for anglers who want a straightforward upgrade over a basic skimmer.

Stepping up, the Active Imaging line is designed for more refined imagery. The Active Imaging 3-in-1 transducer pairs Lowrance CHIRP with SideScan and DownScan. It supports Medium and High CHIRP (83/200kHz) plus 455/800kHz frequencies, and it works with the exclusive FishReveal Smart Target view, which helps you tell fish from structure and cover on detailed DownScan images. Newer Active Imaging HD designs extend imaging frequencies up to 1.2 MHz for sharper target separation.

Earlier all-in-one designs are still in service on many boats. TotalScan combines Broadband Sonar, CHIRP Sonar, StructureScan HD and DownScan Imaging in one package, which means fewer holes drilled in the transom or hull. Choosing the Right Lowrance Transducer

Compatibility matters more than any spec sheet. Connector type (7-pin or 9-pin), the sonar module or display generation, and the mounting location all determine what will work. For example, Active Imaging 3-in-1 transducers are intended for HDS LIVE, HDS Carbon and Elite Ti2 displays, and older displays may not support newer scanning sonar. Lowrance transducers also carry an identification tag near the connector, which makes confirming the model number easy before you order replacements or add-ons.

Also consider how you fish. Transom-mount designs suit most trailered boats, thru-hull options suit larger vessels, and trolling motor or shaft mounts suit anglers who rely on live sonar.
