Furrion Air Conditioning: RV Climate Control Engineered for the Road
When it comes to keeping your RV cool in demanding conditions, Furrion has redefined what's possible with its purpose-built RV air conditioning lineup. Under the flagship Furrion Chill® brand, these rooftop units aren't adapted from residential designs — they're engineered from the ground up for the unique challenges of life on the road: constant vibration, road dust, UV exposure, and the need to perform efficiently on generator or shore power alike.
The Furrion Chill® Lineup: Two Distinct Technologies
Furrion's air conditioning catalog centers on two core product families, each targeting a different level of performance and RV size.
The Furrion Chill® HE is a dual-fan rooftop unit available in 13,500 BTU and 15,000 BTU configurations. Furrion Chill HE units feature two fans, each with its own motor, delivering what Furrion claims is 50% higher cooling capacity and 40% more energy efficiency compared to industry standards, while running 50% quieter than single-fan models. The mid-profile, aerodynamic shroud reduces wind drag on the highway, helping maintain fuel economy without sacrificing interior headroom.
At the top of the lineup sits the Furrion Chill® Cube, a variable-speed compressor unit delivering 18,000 BTU of cooling power. The Chill Cube is notable as the only rooftop RV air conditioner capable of delivering over one ton of cooling in temperatures exceeding 105°F while requiring 40% less power than comparable units. Rather than cycling on and off at a fixed speed, the variable-speed compressors continuously adjust output to match the cooling demand — eliminating the abrupt amp spikes that can trip breakers or stress generators, and removing the need for aftermarket soft-start devices. The result is near-silent operation and dramatically improved energy efficiency, making it well-suited for off-grid and boondocking use.
Proprietary Technologies That Set Furrion Apart
Every Furrion Chill unit is built around two core protective technologies not commonly found in competing RV air conditioners:
- VibrationSmart™: Dampeners built into the unit absorb road shock and vibration during transit, protecting compressor and fan components and reducing operational noise at the campsite.
- ClimateSmart™: Thermal engineering that keeps internal components stable across extreme temperature swings — from scorching desert summers to cool mountain nights — ensuring consistent, reliable performance all season long.
The weatherproof, UV-resistant shroud further shields the unit from rain, direct sunlight, and road debris, while the insulated heat exchanger pulls heat away from the unit during operation. On the Chill Cube's non-ducted models, an industry-first oscillating vent in the air distribution box (ADB) projects air forward across a wider span than standard ADBs, eliminating hot spots throughout the cabin.
Flexible Systems for Every RV Configuration
Furrion's air conditioning products are designed as modular systems, with rooftop units, air distribution boxes, thermostats, and control modules available individually or as complete kits. Both single-zone and multi-zone configurations are supported. Notably, Furrion AC components are engineered to be compatible with common RV roof cutout dimensions, and many parts can replace or supplement existing units from other manufacturers. The Chill Cube also transitions to the environmentally friendlier R32 refrigerant, which delivers efficient cooling with a lower global warming potential than older R410A systems.
