The Sierra 118-5953-1 Alternator Conversion Kit converts Model 470 aluminum block MerCruiser engines with serial number 4625580 and up from a stator charging system with water-cooled voltage regulator to a modern alternator system. This conversion solves the common burnout problem associated with the original stator system, which puts out continuous current and heat, making the water-cooled voltage regulator prone to failure.

All Sierra alternators meet or exceed USCG, SAE J1171 and ISO 8846 Safety Standards and are 100% load tested for reliability. They feature marine-grade construction with heavy-duty bearings and regulators for extended service life. This kit replaces Mercury Marine OEM part number 804916A1.

I wish the products had a more detailed description such as listing of it was for the right or left side or the back or front of the vehicle. Having to google part numbers to determine which area of the car was for was quite inconvenient. Other than that it was a great experience with great prices!
