Complete Kits: Protech and Hyco

Uflex's outboard hydraulic systems are organized around two main packages, matched to engine size. The Hyco kit pairs a front-mount UP20 F helm pump with the UC94-OBF cylinder and is aimed at boats with 150 horsepower and under. The Protech family steps up for engines to 300 horsepower, combining a front-mount helm pump (such as the UP28F, which delivers roughly 4.3 turns lock to lock) with the more robust UC128-OBF cylinder. Protech V variants use the UP25 F helm for about 5.1 turns. Kits typically include two quarts of Uflex hydraulic fluid, so you generally only need a steering wheel and a set of hoses to complete the installation.

It comes in versions for different engines, so check the application guide for models such as certain Honda and Mercury outboards. The UC128-OBF is offered in three versions to fit most two- and four-stroke outboards. It features a heavy-duty stainless steel rod, seals and link assemblies, a 120 cc volume and a 7 1/4-inch stroke. It can also be used with competing helms, hoses and oil.
